Was warned on the recent MOT that they have corrosion. Hit a pothole on tuesday night and loud bang. Car then made kncoking noise when going around corners.....looked underneath and the nearside front part of the outrigger has broken away at the front corner from the corner plate.

Bugger. Drove car home carefully. Looks like it's gonna have to get refurbed over the winter.

Any indications of potential cost? I have a figure in mind and know that it's well into 4 figures.

What are your experiences?

I have a mate who looks after mine and is very reasonable price wise. He's a local indy who looks after quite a few local TVRs.

I haven't got a quote yet, but I'm hoping he can do it at a reasonable price without having to have the body fully off.

V shaped weld from underneath gets the top then a covering tube is welded over the bottom. TBH I'd give Sportmotive a bell if you're not doing it yourself just to get a feel for price.

okay will do. Ta.

What sort of timescale are we talking for completion? I've only just had it MOT'd so dont want it off the road for several months.

Mine were done "body-on" at Sportmotive in Stoke earlier this year, dropped it in on a Saturday, was called on Wednesday afternoon to say it was ready. £1500 inc vat for both sides, and few extra bits were done on mine as well - ARB links and copper fuel pipes replaced at the same time.

Is this the method where they cut through the floor pan to get to then areas they would normally need to get to by raising the body?

£1500....that's less than I was expecting TBH. Thats good news. I was bracing myself for getting quotes like £3k and having to tell the wifey.

Mine is currently at Sportmotive for the same job. Takes about a week to do the work, but I believe he is quite busy at the moment, So might be a bit of lead time before you can get it booked in.

They don’t cut holes in the floor pan to do the work. They can also supply the outriggers for diy installation if you know a good welder that can do the work. Best to give Ian a phone to get more details.

David Gerald in Inkberrow worcester was doing a special offer, body off outrigger replace for £1500...... a lot of places can and do now offer this service at a realistic price,if you know a competant welder then might be cheaper too.
