On christmas day my 75 3.0 v6 became a V5 as no 3 cyl dropped its compression to 50 psi, I guess its a valve problem but will investigate further before dismantling, my question is does anyone know who would be good to send the heads to for machining, preferably in close proximity to southampton and roughly how much do the parts come to ( head gasket etc) and are there any major pitfalls

Oh dear! Could be expensive! It all depends on what you think is a reasonable amount to spend. How old is your car (is it the 6V or later QV)? How many miles are on it? What is your oil consumption like? If the motor is quite shot, you may be better with a second hand unit. You may well feel like throwing mega bucks at it a giving it a bit more poke as well as fixing it! It is all relevent to what condition your 75 is in and as to how long you are likely to keep it. First of all, do a compression test on each cylinder. You may just have a bad HT lead or distributer cap (start praying)!
