Currently scartching my head over my uploaded images - colours are different, an they've lost all their sharpness. I use Photobucket. Does anyone out there have any suggestions ?

Are you using the upload function to resize them? If so, maybe try doing the resize yourself. Even then, you may need to sharpen them before uploading.Alternatively, a lot of people seem to recommend Flickr. Or could you use the webspace that your website is on to host them?

I have a Flickr account, but can't see the URL / code I'd need to upload the image to another site.

If it's for embedding in another webpage then you need to use option 1 and copy the full HTML
