She's Gone.........**sob**

Well, the year ends with the sad news that Ruby is now sold 
She was picked up a week ago by her new lady owner 
It has taken me this long to pluck up the courage to tell you all. Oh, and I was waiting for the funds to clear, too 
The decision to sell her was not easy, as many of you know. I tried to find all manner of excuse to not do it. But, Phil and I are buying a house next year, and, well, I don't need to explain that a certain amount of cash is important
It tugs at my heart whenever I see another TVR. I have seen 3 Tuscans in the last few days, and a T350, and I roll the window down to hear the roar. It's not the same as the V8, but it's a TVR nonetheless
I am so proud to have owned such a stunning car, and a very fine example and true ambassador for the marque. In the 2.5 years I had her, I never had anything go wrong...seriously! There was the odd leak, but they all do that, sir! We did 1100 miles through France, Belgium and Holland in our first summer, in 34C weather, and the needle never went past 90. The fans always came on. People stopped and stared. She was such a thrill. I really did love that car. I could leave the house in a sour mood, purposely take her out for a thrash, come home many miles later with an empty tank and a beaming smile on my face. She was my therapy, joy, white knuckle ride. I learned to do powerslides at 80mph and not lose it (on an airfield, not the road!!) My Jay Shepherd tuition day at Brunters earned me the nickname "Nutcase" (thanks, Jay!!) 'coz I drove the car the way she was meant to be driven
I realized her top speed of 160mph on the Brunters runway. And the Grin Factor, oh, the Grin Factor! Sitting at traffic lights, being egged on by some butthead in a Nova, knowing I could wipe their spotty faces in the dirt if I told Ruby she could 'ave 'em
TVR owners out there know exactly what I am saying. I will cherish the memories, the photos and the friendships will go on. I will see you at the meets, but it may be in the Golf!!

I remember my first outing in my 450 on Surrey Run 3(?) when some oik bruised Ruby. My daughter Steph, who was with me, was really upset that we couldn't 'make it better' in Riker's car park at Box Hill. She had enjoyed the day so much and often watches Luca's video of the day.
I'm really pleased that you have your priorities right about money and homes etc but very much look forward to seeing you behind a TVR wheel again soon.

Rivergirl, heart wrenching but for good reasons, HOWEVER! ditch the Goff and join the looney squad with an 'S' it's cheap, cheerful, handles well, nice noise from either 6 or 8 pot and IT'S A TVR!!!!!
Otherwise blag as many rides as you can, I'm sure they will always be on offer to you.

...and I assured the new owner that it was used by the vicars wife only on Sundays...

Thanks for all your wishes and sentiments. They really make me feel better and still part of the Gang. I will be blagging rides when possible so my TVR pals out there better be ready for random phone call I have been asked to write an article for Sprint that will now hit the March issue, so stay tuned for another story and piccies this time!!

Very sorry to hear that Ruby has finally gone. I know it's no comfort but I'm very impressed with your resolve to do what is right when you obviously loved that car to bits.
With such an experience behind you I predict it is only a matter of time (and economics) before you get another one. You've some unfinished business started at Brunters that won't let you go so easily. Oh, by the way, Jay's broken arm is mended nicely now so I'm sure he'd be up for another go.
