Freight costs from India

Looking at resourcing some components to various global suppliers.

Asia is cheap but concerns with shipping costs / durations & freight.

Anyway for freight been quoted the following. 40ft container in each case (lorry is the equivilant size).

FTL from mid Italy to midlands 3600 gbp
Mumbai (india) to port, to southampton then trucked to Leicester 1226gbp

What is that all about?!
