Just finished watching it for the umpteenth time. Still a great film. Morgan Freeman's narration is top notch.

One of, if not the greatest films of all time. Morgan Freeman is brilliant. There again, Morgan Freeman is always brilliant; he almost made 'Wanted' watchable. Almost.

If you have the time, then read the book. It's far better IMHO.

One of my favourite ever films. Never tire of pulling the DVD out on a rainy day and watching it.

They ruined the ending by showing them meeting on the beach IMO. An ambiguous ending like the book would have been far more emotionally affecting I think.

Its a moot point, IMO, as it fantastic regardless. IIRC, they showed both endings to a test audience, and the current extended ending got a far better reception, so they left it in. Still need to get around to reading the book.

Fantastic film though, must have seen it a dozen times. Still No.1 in the IMDB greatest 250 films too.

Now coming to the London stage as a play in the next few weeks. There was an interesting piece in the Telegraph yesterday about it.

Disagree completely.

If they'd actually shown the reunion (i.e any form of dialogue) then it would have been spoiled, but I think the ending was perfect as it was. You really get a sense of the joy involved...

That's the only part in a film which brings a tear to my eye. You get a real sense of joy, relief and friendship from that scene. It makes the film in my opinion.

The short story Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption is still a very good read too. smile

I shouldn't really be typing this as I'm watching another film but my mind is wandering!

It is an absolutely beautiful film to watch in my opinion. I even swelled with pride when Andy gets them beers on the rooftop, an emotion I have never experienced from watching a film before/since.
