Water pump failure????

Just went out for a quick spin in my Griffith, and had to return after a few miles. Heard a rather strange whirring noise linked with engine RPM. I removed the serpentine belt and the idler pulley bearing is sounding knackered when I spin it(not the adjusting one, the one behind the swirl pot), but when I checked the water pump, that also made a strange noise but only spinning in the direction it normally does, the other way is silent. I guess this noise means my pump is also on the way out!!! Any advice please, im guessing this is a symptom of a knackered pump. Also can just the bearing be replaced on this idler pulley or do i buy a whole new item?? Thanks.

Asuming you haven't got power steering, you can replace just the bearing as I did. Just unbolt the housing and press out the bearing in the vice. I got my bearing from a bearing stockist. Ask for FAG 3305B.2ZH.TVH or equivelent. The water pump is quite straight forward with good access. Range Rover 4.0/4.6 does the job.

Ok thanks, im glad the range rover one does the job, ive seen these alot cheaper then pumps on TVR parts websites!! I take it they are identical with the same flow rate?

The pump used on the TVR is a standard Range Rover part.
