Three at Sea, living the dream!
Discussion
My favourite little ship is the Nordhavn 43. If my numbers ever came up, I would be commissioning one, and setting off around the world with the BG family.
Which is exactly what 12 year old Ayla and her folks are doing on their Nordhavn 43.
Really nice website, blog, and great regular videos of the trip here...

God she's annoying. I hope pirates feed her to the sharks. And she's been inspired by Al Gore to 'Save our Seas', dear God. Still after four years of all living together on a boat they'll be killing each other without need for any pirates.
Age 12-16, on a boat with only your parents for company!

This is more my cup of tea;Engines are all well and good, but if i was attempting any king of ocean voyage with the family on board, i'd want sails as well.
Can't help getting the feeling they're parceling up their little girl and keeping her away from the nasty bit of teenhood. Sure she's going to see the world, but friends, boyfriends, jobs, heartbreak? She's not going to learn that on a boat with her parents. Noble idea but misguided. 1 year max.
Anyway, as I've said before on here, if it were to be a motorboat, one of these please:

Nordhavn's are quite cool and a good option for those who want to long-distance in clockwork guise. The Selene is also a good choice.Which is exactly what 12 year old Ayla and her folks are doing on their Nordhavn 43.

If your numbers come up, there is only one option for proper bluewater motorboating...

Have a read through that website... Steve Dashew is an absolute living legend (he's also best mates with Carol Shelby which is pretty cool). He is the God of offshore sailing (he designed the legendary Sundeer yachts) and his motor yacht is just mind-blowing. The boat is currently sat out of the water behind my office and we have the option on selling his FBP64 semi-production version
