Hi, this is my first of many posts I'd imagine.
September 15th is the date I get my first ever Tvr and what better than a 4.5 LW.
It's dark grey with full leather trim. Lots of stuff done on it but have been warned about running costs.
I'm buying it after being told about it by Matt at Silverstone Performance.
So Monza for the weekend then round off the trip with my first cerb.
How lucky am I .

Hi

Welcome on-board!

Apologies for being so presumptuous!
But as you said it's your first TVR!
The art of Cerbera driving (staying alive!) is smooth throttle control!

Stabbing the throttle is strictly forbidden unless your in death wish mode!

Or heaven forbid in Browns Britain, enjoying yourself whilst making CO2

I'm in sunny Whitstable. I had lots of help and plenty of gatherings with seloc when I had my elises. Do you have any local nonvoys or runs ever. They were always a great way of spending a Sunday morning.

There is a mid kent meet. But i suppose the group that does the most is Nick Smith (NCS) and his mob. SE London/Kent TVRCC, They always have something going on. And have nice places to meet up. In the form of the Woodman. And the Manor Farm Barn(Pied Pipers) place. I'm sure he will be along at some point to introduce himself.thumbup

Thanks I'll look out for that. The 993 my mate was running to Monza looks like it's done it's gearbox tonight, so I might be pushing the purchase forward. How do you think the cerb would cope with a run to and from northern Italy in 3 days?

Well we all went to the Nurbergring and Spa last year.(No Cerb for me. Took the Corvette) Lots of hard use for a few at the ring. But more at Spa. All made it out there. All played. And all made it back.

What a lush trip!
Not for me this year though, I've spent far too much this year already.
Funny that in the last year in recession, my woman kept telling me how poor we are, yet we've been to Sicily, frejus, Paris , monza and nice. I hope we don't come out of it for a while, I haven't got time to have anymore time away.

I've taken mine to the South of France twice, with no problems at all. And the Italians will go bonkers over your Cerb. Go for it.

If I can get the car prepared in time & have all the pennies ready I might just do it.

To help in your penny counting calculations, 1800 miles of mixed Motorway, B Roads, Mountain passes and Towns I averaged 23.6 mpg. I found LD Lines Portsmouth - Le Havre to be the cheapest and best. Costs about £100 return, I know you can get cheaper but you leave at Midnight, 5 hrs kip on the ferry, and arrive in Le Havre early morning, you've missed the horrible Calais to Paris trek, saved on petrol, and your well on your way 'into' France.

Thanks for the tip. I only live 20 miles from Dover. The fuel, tolls, hotel and ferry are going on the company.
The reason for penny pinching on the purchase, is to keep the better half happy.

I've done the south of France 3 times, the first two averaged about 22mpg, the 3rd was after a jools remap and gave about 27mpg. The 4.5 is renowned for running rich on the standard map. If it hasn't been 'optimised' it's highly recommended. With the short induction kit it also liberated an extra 42hp. Win win smile the economy boost is a good sell to SWMBO, too.

Ill second that, mine used toalways smell like it had a fuel leak but just too rich, after the remap and induction change a ton more horses (nearly 50)and on a good long steady run still at a good rate of light years can see high 20s. Well worth the investment.

It already has the short induction kit & was remaped at the same time, not by your bloke but a place in Wales I think. Dyno said 406 bhp although I'm assured this rr always gives lower figures than are actualy achieved.

Not heard of a Welsh outfit doing Cerb remaps. Take any 'the RR reads low' stuff with a pinch of salt.
