Hi All,

It would be interesting to get some ideas of how many pre-cat cars there are still around either 4ltr or 4.3 models, if you have one or know of one then lets hear about it.Are their numbers as scarce as were led to believe?

according to the bible, second ed....

griffith 4.x : 602 in 1992 and 114 in 1993
The 114 made in 1993 has a comment:

The Bible said:
The UK production finished in 1992 but some UK cars were delivered in 1993. The rest of the 1993 production was exported to Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.

A near neighbour of mine (Simon) has a pre cat Griff which looks and sound magnificent, makes my 500 sound feeble in comparison.

I have a '92 4.3 precat Griffith - taking into account those that have been scrapped over the years I would estimate that no more than 400 precat Griffiths - approx. 200 4 litres and 200 4.3 litres are still around.

As Jigs mentioned there must have been a fair few lost in accidents etc although probably a lesser percentage than the 500 due to better manners with less power.

John, the original production numbers is pretty well documented now, what would be interesting to know is how many are still around today.

I have a 92 4.3 that has a registration data of 02/09/92 but was sold by "The TVR Centre" on 19/10/92 with a BV conversion ! I have had the spec sheet from the factory which states it was built as a 4.3

Mine's a Formula Red 1992 4.3 - as seen on the double page spread about NEC Classic Car Show in Jan's Sprint (or often on my Morgan's Mutterings page)

Aha - Mr Morgan! Now in the Sprint pix your car doesn't seem to have any black sealant round the headlights. Is it just too thin to show, or did you use clear, or (c) neither of the above?

And it seems to sit quite low at the back - does it? Or have you got paving blocks in the boot?!
