Hi all,

The wife and I are looking to get away for a week or so, during the second half of September. We want to stay in the UK for two reasons: firstly the wife is st scared of flying, secondly we have a five-month old so would like to keep the logistics as straightforward as possible.

So, can anyone suggest a destination that ticks the following boxes?...

1) No more than roughly three hours' drive of Hertfordshire
2) Picturesque, possibly with a bit of wildlife to see or walks to take
3) Somewhere with a reasonable availability of holiday cottages
4) Close enough to civilisation that I'll be able to find a pub with Sky Sports for emergencies

Thanks

Steve

stay at the Stanwell House hotel in Lymington, or if your budget stretches to it, Chewton Glen in New Milton

Rutland has nice walks and wild life to see round the water. Nice village pubs to visit and a number of holiday cottages available in the area.

I'm off to Torquay in a couple of days, then a few days at Skegness, then down to Goodwood for the revival smile
