My local Curry house does a curry called Sylhetey, and I am desperate to find the recipe for this so that, as a avid home cook as well as a self confessed Curryhead, I can give it a go myself instead of forking out £6.70 plus rice everytime I have the craving!

I don't believe it to be a one off house special creation as a quick google shows that at least a few restaurants around the country (those with websites anyway) offer it as a dish, but getting a recipe is proving impossible. At a guess I'd say it may well originate from the Sylhet community?

It is a medium consistency dish cooked with onion, green pepper, various unnamed spices, paprika, cumin, turmeric, fresh tomatoes, mixed pickles and worcester sauce (yes you did read that last bit right) served with fresh finely shredded tomatos and cucumber in top. It is very rich and tasty but of medium heat, and the pickles add a novel twist to the norm.

So, I lay down the search to find me the secret recipe for my favourite curry and make me very happy! Eternal thanks will be given if anyone knows anyone on the inside who can help me out!!

Probably just a family recipe.

Why not ask them?

Well, rough guess is you are sh!t out of luck. But it does sound nice.

Just keep asking them for the recipe. Eventually they may crack.

I doubt it. I'll have to get one from them and then see if I can try and replicate it at home using trial and error me tinks.
but it seems that the dish 'Sylhetey or Sylheti' basically refers to a signature or house special dish by a Sylhet chef, so can be anything he wants.
Also, given that in this country two thirds of Indian chefs or Indian restaurant owners are of Bangledeshi/Sylhet origin, each might have their own take on it as a signature dish under the title of 'Sylheti/Sylhetey' rather than sticking to the basic ingredients and platform that denotes most curries.

Achari is a creamy curry containing yogurt IIRC, whereas this is a dry Bhuna type curry. The only thing that contains yogurt in this dish is the tikka meat which is marinated in yogurt.
