What's wrong with me that I'd take the 80's Audi over a Masser and a Noble!!!!

3 words.

Absolutly fking stunning.

The 6 TVRs who were behind me for 100+ miles of Surrey and Kent finest yesterday also had blood coming out of their ears and an amazing grin on their face. Apparently you can't hear your own TVR even when 3 cars behind it....

Not a lot. Why do you think I've kept it (I've had it for 18 years...)?

I think the Quattro is worth a thread to itself if you're willing to share some pics?

Sure. What would you like to know/see?

I'm just about to start stripping down my '86 WR. IIRC you had yours restored by Kim? I'd be quite interested in some before and after pics, also how he dealt with any NLA parts issues. I like Kim and he's helped me out quite a bit in the past, but he's a hell of a long way from me when there are other closer by. However my daughter is considering Brighton University so I might be able to justify putting the work his way more easily (to my wife).

Where abouts are you? I would always recommend Roger Galvin at the "quattro workshop" near Lutterworth (J22 of M1) in Leicestershire. He has looked after my Ur quattro for 12 years and is also good at sourcing NLA parts or suitable replacements.

I know Roger ranting

biggrin

He's looked after a couple of my Quats and I'll be getting him to look after the mechanicals on this one too - actually I wouldn't consider taking it anywhere else for much beyond a service. I'm interested in what QST can do with body work though.

I would always recommend Kim for doing work on any Ur.

The respray itself was very reasonable at just over 3k. There was a the normal other stuff done which pushed the total bill up.

He also seems to be able to source almost anything. New rear parcel shelf (the old one collapsed)? Yep, he just got VW to make a new one. An exact fit.

New OEM ariel? Yep, managed to find one of them again (again, exact).

I'm away on business most this week and the weekend, but will spend the following weekend taking some more pictures and then giving you some more history on the car.
