queue the usual excuses, just in Peru on holiday, looking for bears maybe, and had to carry it through for a boyfriend, or forced at gun point etc.

No British person is ever guilty of anything abroad so she's obviously been fitted up by the foreign police, when she's found guilty in court we'll have her sent home, where she can be promptly released to make some cash selling her story to the papers and resuming her life as dolescum on a council estate rolleyes.

she'll still manage to be jailed, found guilty, spend a month there and somehow get the foriegn office to pull out all the stops and get her sent back to the uk to a "heroes" welcome where her mum will be glad she's back with loved ones as this was a huge miscarriage of justice.

29kg of coke!!! Did she have any room for anything else in the bag!!! Thats a heck of a lot for a suitcase....

I´ve been asked twice in the last 3 weeks at Barcelona airport to take things on board.... and once in Moscow... I am not surprised that the odd person falls for it.... but would you trust a girl you´ve never met with you 3million of coke!!!

Not that I've been involved in such dealings, but no - unless she was a deliberate distraction to take attention away from an even bigger shipment. If so the people who paid her a nominal sum will also have been the ones who anonymously tipped off the authorities. Still, about 6 years in jail seems very lenient compared to some of the alternative likely penalties e.g. in SE Asia.

The media can't mention anything to do with immigration in the context of possible illegality, that might tell it as it is be seen as inflammatory and politically incorrect, racist even.

And personal abuse is after all the epitome of sophistication and humour. Or were you being deeply ironic?

30 fking kilos of Coke in a suitcase?

I'd assumed that any drug smuggling these days via passenger flights involved "internal" smuggling, surely there's not a hope in hell of chucking 30kg of the stuff in your suitcase and crossing your fingers?!
