Sourcing R154 or W58 gearbox

The R-154 is by far the better box.
All you can do is phone around breakers. There are bound to be some 86-94 Supra Turbos on small breakers yards around the country who are willing to part with them for sensible money.
Or just buy a complete car, take off what you need, and sell the car on for parts. Most of those cars arent worth a lot of money unless they were in extremely good condition now.
You could also check with some of the drifters, as they use them in some of their Toyota cars. I sold the couple I had to a guy here with a Chaser drift car a few months ago.
Also...try this guy, he might know of some
Sean or Paul at 02887740067, although they are over here in Northern Ireland. They could ship though if they had some.
Paul runs a drift car and knows the boxes.

If you don't intend to modify the 1UZ, a W58 will be fine, and it has, by all accounts, a much better gearchange than the R154.
The R154 was used in the Mk3 Supra turbo and anything with a 1JZ-GTE. R154s seem to be a bit thin on the ground since the drifters found out how good Toyota's JZs are.
If you are doing the conversion with one of the Aussie bellhousings, just look for a non-turbo Mk3 Supra. It might even be cheaper to buy an MOT failure complete.
If you intend to use an adaptor plate, see the www.v-eight.com forum for CAD files.
