Hi

Does any one know LS3 manual flywheel diameter? Is it possible to use smaller and if so how to mount starter. (Its mounted on block)

Many thanks

Its big, and mounting depends on transmission used.

The GD kit cars use an inverted Porsche Transaxle and small diamater clutch/flywheel with their own starter.

Thank you

Big block chevy and small block used 2 sizes of fly wheel 168 and 153 tooth ring gear. It is possible to get starters for either and in some cases starters with 2 sets of mounting holes to allow fitting to both sizes.
Is it possible to do the same with LS3?

Using the original LS mounts, I doubt you could turn a smaller diameter ring gear.

But do you need a smaller diameter one ?

Or as I stated. The GD kit cars bolt their starter to the trans AFAIK, rearward facing, and act on a smaller diameter flywheel. But from what I hear....doing this, does put quite a strain on the starter, and its harder to turn the engine over.

Thank you.
IF I can fit smaller flywheel I can sit engine lower so better cornering etc. Have dry sump so lowest bit on engine is huge 14" flywheel.
Big and small block chevy could use both small and standard flywheels with a change to geared starters
