Can anyone recommend a hotel or B&B in Whitby (North Yorkshire, rather than Ontario).

Has anyone stayed at the Seaview or Sanders Yard? If so, how do you rate them?

I have stayed here - The Sandpiper Guesthouse and recommend it, cheapish, 5 mins walk to Harbour/centre or beach and very friendly couple who run the place. Worth reserving parking as not very easy in Whitby - you may end up having a few mins walk to your car at times.

Does it need to be in the town centre? If not, try:

www.dunsleyhall.com

www.cross-butts.co.uk

www.mallyanspout.co.uk (in Goathland, about 10 mins drive away)

Park behind Somerfield (free for customers) behind the station or along the top opposite the big hotels.

Town centre(ish) preferably, but I'll take a look. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Goathlands lovely but a little quiet. Spent a week at Dunsley Hall in July after being unable to find anything in Whitby which suited - location/parking etc. Can't recommend the place enough. Superb location, attentive staff, good food and willing to do a deal - ask for Gordon when you ring.

Restaurants can recommend http://www.greensofwhitby.com/

We eat there reasonably regularly when up that way.

No recommendation for hotels sorry, can advise on holiday cottages though.

For what it's worth, www.cross-butts.co.uk has fantastic food (tastes great and you get big servings) and a very nice atmosphere - it isnt in the centre of Whitby though.
