Bit of a sore point with me at the moment. My newly aquired manifolds are currently packed up to be returned to a well known exhaust manufacturer. Terrible fitment problems and not the usual chassis ones. Nearside hard against the engine mounting bracket and the offside against the gearbox.

Thats my worry,

Thinking of sending the wedge to the place i had the last wedge in for a stainless system, bit expensive but a cracking job.

Fitted stainless manifolds to my first Wedge. My mate runs an MOT & service centre locally & he fitted them for me. He said he had to 'lean' on them a bit, with some heat too. yes

Bespoke would certainly be the best way to go.To be fair they have asked me to send the originals in with the new ones so that they can check on their jigs and alter accordingly. Just a real pain with the time and effort involved fitting and removing.

The place i used in Gateshead was first class Wyn.

Custom made, these guys had white coveralls on like doctors and they treated the wedge like it was there own.

When i picked it up they were really excited to show me everything they had done, not to mention the workshop full of amazing cars and all the ongoing work on them.

Should bite the bullet and attempt to justify it to our lass.

hehe Just tell her it's gone in for a service. thumbup

There was a story behind the 450 engine in my old Red Wedge. It was originally installed in a Blue Wedge & was comissioned at J.E. Engineering by a Mr Hart. One of the chaps I spoke to at J.E. was there at the time (1994'ish). He told me that just before they started the job, the car was stolen from the yard & was found in the South of France stuffed with drugs!!!
So they sent one of the mechanics from JE out there to get the car & he ended up doing a night in the cells because of the language barrier!!! hehe
So eventually they had the car back & did a particularly good job on it, (dyno set up, bigger breathing etc) better than they would have, due to the inconvenience for Mr Hart. So he had a £5k engine conversion & apparently he told his wife that it was in for a service...bow...laugh
Man after my own heart. biggrin

Go for it Rob. biggrin

The special adjustable ECU even had his name on it........

The 350 refers to the number the dial was set to for that engine.
