iv been offered an 02 plate 530d sport, but its a manual and has the alcantara/cloth sports seats..drives superbly but has done a shedload of miles with a big history...will the manual hurt resale..(i never keep my cars long!!)...seriously tempted by the big bruiser though, would be a good replacement for my m3 evo...

any advice about these cars greatly appreciated...

Old, leggy 530d with cloth interior?

I'd pass, unless it's phenomenally cheap and has a full BMWSH.

You're selling it to yourself pretty well...

Are you happy to deal with it if you get a turbo failure?

But that is low money.

I can definitely see the appeal.

am undecided and not really selling it to mself..its just an old bmw to me fella, just a lot of flash for the cash....seems cheap enough to take a punt on, though il wager its trade book value is even lower than that!!

I recently sold my 2002 registered 530d M Tech Sport Auto for 8.5k. I'd had it from new and it was fully loaded with TV Sat NAV Full Leather etc, and mileage was just 56k.
I've had some great cars in my time but this car car has been simply superb to drive and I only replaced the tyres once!!

2 years ago the Turbo blew and it also needed to have the exhaust replaced too at a cost of £3,100 work done through the main9rip Off agent!! However, BMW agreed to make a voluntary payment of £1900 towards the cost due to the low mileage of 36k at the time ( I was very grateful)

The car you're interested in is reasonably priced but the mileage is high and the spec is quite basic. I certainly wouldn't buy it without seeing the full service record! If you're very keen on it then check the service record by giving a main dealer the registration number.

well i bought it...first impressions are very favourable..its not as high mileage as id been told and it drives really tight and smoothly..looks good too...it may, or may not be cheap at 3.5k but i think its relatively safe money so in reality, that must be a good deal in my eyes!!...how accurate are the trip computers on these cars because at a 60mph cruise with the cruise on the mpg figures seem to be unbelievable...il ber happy if the car gets 40mpg, but the computer is claiming much more than that..

Congratulations on your purchase, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun driving it.

MPG very much depends on how hard you drive it but you should manage 500 miles plus on a full tank once you settle down.....................
