tracker systems ??

Have a good read through the different ones:

they seem to be getting more and more complex as time goes on. Just see which one suits you best.
Im sure the top one allows you to go online and see the vehicles movements, all details are provided, distance travelled, how long it took and exact speeds, could be handy for Thunder Road lol

thanks

No probs, im sure Tracker are one of the best units as the police have a direct contract with them so typically are the quickest to respond.
One of my customers supplies tracking devices to the military which are fantastic items, have tried many times to get him to get me one but cant sneak one out!

We had a Tracker Monitor fitted on the Monaro before we collected the car. It cost £300-£400 and £130 per year and for that we get "24 hour notification of unauthorised activity to the vehicle" Plus obviously they can trace your car wherever the scumbags are taking it. We also had it fitted to the Porsche. Definitely piece of mind IMHO

Even if they did the Americans still wouldnt be able to find him lol
Some of the self tracker systems fitted at a speed event last year, were limited to 155mph. Well..they stopped recording after that. So just tell them you want them to read all speeds, all the time when setting it up.
All the tracker devices are great in theory. Its a pity there are also devices that allegedly block the signal readily available. Great for a works van when you want to hide for a bit...but not so great when it comes to security.
Might be worth asking installers and suppliers how secure their systems actually are.
A friend had a couple of tracker systems fitted to his cars, and seemed a good job though. They were prompt to call him any time the vehicle moved or was tampered with in such a manner as to trigger the system. They did get pissed off after a while though. He really should have told them before hand he was working on the car each time lol
Not sure on his deal, but there was a one off payment, and no yearly agreement for the monitoring.

anyone using a car tracker system , want to get one but have not got a clue about them ..costs, type, ..can any one help

I had to have trakker fitted for insurance. i have a monitiring sysytem which cost £350 and the subscription is £122 a yeah or if u take the 5 year deal with them it cost £500 for the 5 years. Basically u have to o nothing but fill in forms. And also trakker check the system as they had to send an engineer out to rewire it as it had performance issues, but that was down to the car as the stereo was staying on after the key was removed, which is an option in the car memory. it was running down the back up battery. Never had to use it but i suspect it works with gps.

Had a tracker on our 1st digger.....
The crimms had it away by flashing 24v across the battery terminals.
Turns out no trackers are voltage protected
(That may have changed now of course)

Most "good" ones should be but alas not all. Also almost all have a battery backup but this generally only lasts up to 24 hours.
We sell a tracker type unit that is self contained with no wiring or connection to the car.
Depending on how you want it configured the battery will last between 3-5 years (we have benchtested byond this though). Installation is just four screws and is waterproof/dustproof to military standards. It's not much bigger than a 5 pound note.
It's really designed for things like boats and containers but I use it as one of my cars has occasional use and has a very very small race battery so spends most of it's time with it isolated. This unit still means it's covered.
As i have first hand experence at trying to find the stolen cars with various types of tracker devices here is my 10p
Only Tracker have kit installed in police cars, this works on FM radio and when activated by tracker is picked up by masts placed all over the country. they then phone the local nick and we go to the gerneral area with the less powerful kit on the cars. It can take ages to locate a car using this kit but we do find it in the end, some also have gps.
the GPS systems give some benifits in that the operator can tell us exactly where the car is and how fast its going. the main problem is the cars are often parked up in garages etc. this renders the gps useless. depends how quick the system is turned on.
The criminals are getting very switched on to trackers and we have recovered lots of units minus the car. Basicly if the car is high value it can be a race against time to locate the car before they rip out the tracker unit. If you are having one installed examine your vehicle for the best most hidden place you can think of and get them to stick it there, not just behind the boot lining!
hope this helps

My insurance company insisted that i had a tracker installed before they would insure me for theft. The system cost me £460 in February of this year with an annual subscription of £130 on top. I am told that my system will also be detected if the car is taken and placed in a steel container on a dock side. However, it also has a motion sensor, so if the car is moved slightly (moved onto a low loader for example) without the keys in the ignition it will alert Tracker who will then notify the cops. Although, it is fairly expensive compared to the savings on my insurance it is piece of mind knowing where the car is, since having it installed i have called tracker to "ping" the system and they came up trumps with its exact location. Though, remember to tell any garages etc that you have the system fitted if they intended rocking/moving your car about with no keys in the ignition or they might be in for a surprise...
