Just read in a biking magazine that a scamera site was misplaced near some roadworks on the M4 at junction 24 Newport. Apparently between July 2002 and October 2003 it snapped 2,500 motorists who were fined and penalised despite the fact they were driving legally. The location was such that instead of taking photos in the 50 limit it took photos after the end of the restricted speed zone. So if you were fined for doing between 50 and 70 you are entitled to your money back and to have the points removed from your licence.

Of course the scamera partnership won't automatically write to you to tell you that they made a mistake, you have to make an appeal to them instead.

Oh well, I didn't search back that far. According to the mag only 10 people out of the 2,500 affected have claimed as yet. So that's worked out well for the scamera people hasn't it ?
