Thinking of taking the missus to the Devonshire Arms hotel, with dinner at the Burlington restaurant (1 Michelin star) and perhaps some sort of spa treatment too.

Has anyone been to the hotel / restaurant / spa before, and would you recommend it?

Their tasting menu was superb when we went earlier this year - probably the best meal we have had locally. My better half booked it but think we got the meal, bed and breakfast and use of the health club for around £225. Certainly worth asking about a deal.

They have an offer for B&B and evening meal - £99 per person per night. To upgrade to the Burlington is an additional £25 each.

£250 for 1 night and a meal seems pretty pricey, so I need to make sure it is worth it.

Would try the tasting menu but the missus is a bit fussy so she might leave anything 'exotic' looking.

We were there for a couple of nights last month. The people are great. The food in the Burlington is very good, (whatever Michael Winner might say) and the wine list and sommelier are top drawer.

That offer is astonishing value for money.

Drove past on Saturday. They appear to be cornering the market with Devonshire-named pubs and retaurants.
