Chimaera 450 wins York raceways Hotrod Challenge 2009

A fantastic weekend in the Chimaera at York.
It was the finals of the Hotrod Challenge and i was leading the points but there was Ian Kerrs monstrous 1000bhp+ 41 Willys that runs in the 9's.
I now have a healthy 150 bhp of nitrous to play with on the progressive controller and a second stage back up jetted to 100 bhp on a pushbutton (just in case).
I ran new PBs with a best of 11.63 and a best terminal of 125.37.
I was drawn against Ian in the semi-final and thought it was game over.
I got a .61 reaction to a confident 1.1 from Ian so i had a half second advantage off the line.
He had some engine problems and despite running 135mph only ran 11.3 to my 11.6 so i took the win by 2 tenths. Shame for Ians bad luck but thats drag racing.
Lets hope the track stays dry for more fun this weekend at Shakey.
Hopefully there will be plenty of TVRs on track with the Gredge match on Saturday and C3Cs meet on Sunday.
Also i hope to demonstrate the power from the nitrous system on the rolling road at Roar at 4:30pm Saturday.

It does my ego the world of good
I fluffed a gear change on 1 of my 11.6 runs and believe a faster time can be had at Shakey this weekend.
I hope to be making suspension modifications along with stronger drivetrain parts and some work on the engine to take more gas over the winter so i hope to be chasing the times of the LS cars.

Well done Derek; top man! You get any footage? I'll try to capture some this weekend as I only intend to put in a couple of passes myself.
Would've been good to see how your car compared to Bluebottles SC520 Griff booted in R888's. That'd be a spectacle, very competitive is Hamish, pity he can't make it now.

Great stuff Derek - my mate was there in his Pulsar and said you seemed to be doing well. He also said your pal (forget his name, was chatting to him when I was over there last) was there with his Interceptor. Planned to go but felt a bit iffy in the morning so gave it a miss. Wish I hadn't now.

You could up that chevy to 700 bhp on gas easily enough.
Thats what i intend to do at some point. So i need to look at your car too.
