I have squeak that I think is brakes and seems to go away for a while when the car has been washed (and water sprayed around wheel arches) and is worse when turning (especially left!). Never happens when using the footbrake. Put the car into AM Brentwood with this and some other minor issues and the only thing not fixed was this squeak. People on this forum seem to suggest its the handbrake pads and/or P clamps (whatever they are).

My question is - has anyone fixed this permanently (and if so, how) or is it general opinion that you just have to live with it?

i have had an 07 for 2 1/2 years and it was an ongoing problem.got round this by spraying water into the back of the calipers when washing.not a permanent fix but you`d be surprised how much ste comes out when this is done.however i have recently had my rear brake pads changed due to wear(25000 miles before a change!!!) whatever the new pads are squeal is now non existent.

anti squeal pads are required to be fitted to the back of the pads also de adjusting the handbrake will also help with the problem, instead of 3 or 4 clicks it wants setting to around 5 or 6, thirdly a leading edge on the pads helps and do not use copperslip on the edges of the pads as this just helps collect the dust,
