My old ex-army 109 is starting to look a bit tatty and I've decided I need to get her some new camo. First problem is to get the old paint off - several layers deep it appears! I assume the best way to get rid is shotblasting but I have no experience of this - there seem to be many variations on the theme. Shotblasting, bead blasting, soda blasting etc. Anybody know the best route to take?

Just had the bulkhead on my Series 3 shotblasted after putting in new footwells, pillars and bulkhead corners...Cleaned it up fine...

The rest of the panels are ally and need to be blasted with care.... Normal blasting uses chilled iron which if used without caution can damage panels... Other methods can prove expensive...

For the rest of the Series I will use the same shotblasting company, they will clean the panels when the media is spent and the pressure reduced.. Its worked OK for me in the past but you have to trust the guy blasting...

I used a place here in Kent - Chart Engineering, Pluckley... They charge a very reasonable £35 per hour in the booth... I had some outrageous quotes from other local companies...

Guy down in Dorset does SodaBlasting at a decent price, he is mobile too if you have space and does a very good job
