Heater control position

OK...so I have thrown out the std instructions on fitting the dash bits out and embarked on a very scary set of changes that have taken rather too much time with modelling, re-modelling, re-re-modelling etc etc.
Is it worth it...probably not..but us nutters do this sort of thing don't we! ...and probably live to regret it.
SO... with the std fits all out of the window, I move to what to do with the heater controls which normally sit centally under the dash on an ally plate and presumably tucked away because they look naff and won't pass IVA if mounted on the dash itself.
Can anyone suggest either knobs that would fit that would also pass IVA if mounted on the dash? ...or help me understand exactly where around the cab area it would pass IVa inspection? The dash middle is now occupied with a centre console!!! and what about the push-pull cable?
Jeez, we do make work for ourselves don't we!
Any ideas or help would be gratefully received.... (If only someone would come up with a fully elecronic panel with flush buttons! -Folorn hope)

Yes I have know about Simons panel for a while now, but after a year or two of trying and asking and asking, I have a feeling, bless him, that he has enough to do elsewhere.
So no nifty solution for now I guess.
Backup plan is to see if anyone knows of some IVA friendly knobs - (STOPPIT! YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN! - NO WAYNE NO!)

Take a look at the below thread for replacing the manual heater valve with a servo valve from Vintage Air.
If you want one of these then you'll have to find a US dealer to supply you, I believe that Jeff Schwartz on here is a dealer.

Managed to get one of these - cost an arm and a leg for shipping VAT duty etc which almost doubled the cost, but hey! Too late once it arrives by courier with a cash demand!
Want to make all the knobs tha same if poss and have them on the dash front... so all you KNOB makers out there - can I have some smart IVA friendly ones PLEEEZE!

As the rubber switch knobs for the heater controls ie one for the heater and one for the aircon are not I presume suitable for mounting on the face of the dash, I did wonder about recessing the panel by say, the depth of the switch itself thus for all intents and purposed the knobs were no longer proud of the dash front. Would this be acceptable for IVA?

The switch knobs can stick out from the panel if they do not have sharp edges i.e. =>2.5mm Radius. If they stick out from the panel by more than 9.5mm they must retract or break off with a 40kg load.
A recessed panel would work but will again need to have radiused edges.
You are however explicitly banned from using the factory supplied knobs on the front of the dash as they are seriously naff.
The world is full of knob suppliers who can do better. You also need to consider that all controls and warning lights must have the correct symbol on or near them as an IVA requirement.

Actually steve I probably would have put a dark tinted perspex hinged flap over the opening, or even made anyone looking onto the cockpit wear ultra-dark glasses - thus hiding the 'seriously naff' KNOBS!
But seriously! - Your right though... Short of finding an easily installed electronic panel 'A-la-Simon' I am forced to find new KNOBS - I am on the hunt for such rare items which are SVA/IVA complient, but after spending a couple of hrs trawling the net I have failed miserably...Maybe my Googling skills are pretty naff as well!
......unless you know where there is a suitable supplier if said items. (Here's hoping!)

You don't need to look for IVA compliant ones if you are going to recess as you will not be able to contact the edge of the knob with a 165mm radius sphere.
If they are going to protrude from the dash surface (but by less than 9.5mm) then they will need a radiused edge but as they just push on the knobs for IVA can be any old crap (factory supplied), filed down to have a radius, and be replaced with pretty ones later.
Have a look through the 307 different knobs from RS or Google 'Control Knob'.
