AC Belt snapped - Car still ok to run?

As above, the AC belt has sheared (how original) Am I correct in thinking that there will be no probs running the car as normal, just minus the cold A/C.

Get a slightly shorter belt than normal from somewhere like Camskill.
Mine hasnt come off since I replaced it with a 20mm shorter job.
