Rock Pubs In Brighton

Dear PH massive

Me & a couple of mates are going to Brighton on 17th September to a gig @ Concorde 2, can anyone recommend some good pubs in Brighton (preferbably playing Rock music) ????

Alternatively, anywhere with a good vibe ????

The Prince Albert in Trafalger Street, next to the train station, owned by Chris who used to own the original concord and started 2.

I played the Concorde in 1993 supporting Medicine Head, the longest gig ever they played for 3 hrs plus and we couldn’t go home (4hr drive) as they used our back line gear.
I’m not from the south so can't advise on pubs but was wondering who are you going to see?

The Caroline of Brusnwick, near the park called The Level. In fact, if you are getting the train, you will walk past the Prince Albert & could carry on down the hill to the Hobgoblin (corner of London Road) and then on round to the Caroline before heading to the Concorde!

Pub called the King and Queens. Is also a gig venue.

Can't remember where it is but it's pretty central.

Fastlanegirl Has proberbly got in one for rock music, the King and Queen is really more of a better and good version of a weatherspoons which sometimes has kareoke and band.

But still Club Revenge is a good idea...

I don't honestly know.

I was seeing a friend's band play there (The Rivers - have supported INXS and The Kooks on tours) and just remember it being a big place and quite grungy.

No, it's further along by the Pavillion. And it's ste! I don't know what it used to be like, but now it has moody bouncers, teenagers puking outside & attracts a young, chavvy crowd.

The places I mentioned, & the Prince Albert, are all fantastic places with very laid back atmospheres. Notably I am not a rock chick & dress pretty 'normally', and for me the defining factor is all the tattooed, pierced, dreadlocked, dressed up staff & punters are very friendly & welcoming - no attitude or 'in-crowd' nonsense The Caroline is my local & I love it there, I choose it above all the other more regular-type bars around me and I think it's all the nicer for because no one pulls that whole "you're not goth enough to drink here" st in there!
The Hobgoblin is dark, dirty, crowded, very noisy & always packed, but immense fun & open late Always ended up drinking JD in there & meeting allsorts of people (Disclaimer: the two may or may not be related!)

In fact, why not just start there and work your way around that area?
