Excerpt:

After speed cameras, road humps and mobile phone bans, there could be more bad news for Britain's motorists. Police are urging Ministers to give them the power to stop vehicles by remote control.

In what will be seen as yet another example of the increasing power of Big Brother, drivers face the prospect of their cars being halted by somebody pushing a button.

I'm surprised this wasn't posted on here before.

I can't see this to be a very safe tool/deterrent - speeding on a motorway and pressing a button to stop the car doesn't seem very safe to me.

Even if Labour go out of power, which I want them to for obvious reasons (poor public services etc), that won't effect this law, as it's the police asking for this law, not ministers themselves.

I'm 17, and I don't own a car (and haven't got my license - yet), but there doesn't seem to be much motivation (but there is movement to do so) to own a fast car (what is a dream), because what is my hobby (not driving as I haven't done so yet but would be, but being interested in fast cars) seems to be like something the motorist is penalised for by the government. I say it's time to leave the country.
