Apologies if this has already been covered.

My passenger door window is stuck in the down position. I've checked the conenctions at the switch, which all seem ok. When I use the switch, there is a click in the door which suggests the wiring is ok.

I've taken the door panel off, which doesn't give a massive amount of access. The window is absolutely jammed - can't move it by hand. I can't work out how to remove the motor so I can just pull the window up.

Any suggestions?

Don't try to pull the window up, you run the risk of pulling it out of it's runner. If you can get access to the motor use a light hammer (or some other suitable blunt instrument) to tap the motor, even though it feels like everything is jammed, a little 'controlled abuse' should bring the motor back to life.Sometimes even just banging the inside of the door panel with the back of your hand will do the trick.

Ok. If you need to get the motor out, remove the inner door panel, undo the motor retaining bolts (from memory these are behind the door armrest),unplug the motor connector, lift the motor and window slightly to allow the regulator to come out of the lower rail. You can then lift the motor out of the top of the door.It looks impossible but you can bend the inner door top just enough to get the motor through. Good luck it's a very fiddly job. Connect the motor once the unit is out, hold the switch in the up position and then tap the motor with a hammer until it starts.

If the motor is playing up why not just replace it - you can get motors from Rimmer Bros only £20 odd pounds new from an SD1 i think well worth the expense did mine a year or so ago.

Hey guys - fantastic.

Who would have thought that a whack with a hammer would solve the problem! Just the sort of engineering I can cope with.

Cheers, Steve

"If at first you don't succeed use a bigger hammer"

wink

The same trick seems to work on my lazy headlamp pod motor !
