Hi,
So it looks like my Tamora is going to be a write-off (after being rear end while stationary), and I am going to looking for a new TVR. Cerbera being 1 of options, I after some info.
I know about the Speed 6 and how usable it is everyday, but I am info on how the differant V8s compare, not in terms of BHP and torque, but what's it like to 'live with'.

Can you let me know things like:-
Which has smooth power delivery?
Low rev pulling?
Can it be used everyday?
Is it happy doing short runs?

Also any other info, that you think would help.

Thanks

It's generally felt that the 4.2 is a little smoother at low revs, and that the standard power output is more consistent with 4.2s than 4.5s, although the 4.5s are more tunable.

Plenty of folks use them every day, I do mine now, but they are expensive to run on fuel and servicing unless you're a diy enthusiast.

I can't imagine that they would take well to short runs though, they take a long time to warm up, and the clutch is not the most robust item on the car. In winter, the oil sometimes never gets up to operating temperature, hence some of us fitting oil thermostats.

have had a speed six and two 4.2's this year and i preferred the speed six for power delivery and a nicer ride although was told by dan at taylot tvr that he had worked on this particular speed six over the years and said it had always been a very nice car, being a 2000 model had the nicer and more comfortable seats and bigger screen. but you can't beat the noise that a 4.2 fitted with decats makes!! shoot

wheels seem to make a big difference, have tried 16" saturns, 17" RL's and 18" spiders, i would say that the 18" spiders look great but twitchey, the 17" RL's look good, handle well, good ride and do actually fit!

if you can get a speedsix which has had a rebuild with all the faults ironed out, then you'll get more car (age, mileage) for your money.

good luck in your hunt
