A380 flying visit to Edinburgh this weekend......
Discussion
For those who haven't seen one.....
A 525-seater Airbus A380, the world's largest commercial airliner, will make a flying visit to Edinburgh Airport on Saturday 5th September. Although the aircraft will not land, it will perform an approach-and-go manoeuvre, which means it will come in as it would to land but depart before actually touching down. The flythrough will take place at 13:40, and will be the A380's first appearance in Scotland.

Read about the Prestwick flyover (to fly by Spirit Aerosystems, who have built parts for it) in the local paper will have to nip along to see. It's not hanging about at each place, is it going to literally be one fly over?
Meant to be at prestwick for 2pm to conduct "a couple of slow speed flypasts before heading to Ireland an finally Wales" according to the Spirit email.Edited by BMR on Thursday 3rd September 10:23
Hey that was impressive (in Fife anyway!); turned right (north) out of the airport over the bridges than went right over the top of my house
Seem them from the lounge at Heathrow but this was a much closer/better view that I expected.

Also, got back last night and there's a 747 parked on the old runway at EDI- didn't look like it had windows so a freigher? But there was a private 747 there last year I think form some visiting oil sheik. Any idea what this one is - white with a blue stripe and no other markings?

Here's some of my pics from the Prestwick fly by. It was jam packed and this wasn't the official viewing area - I spoke to a guy and he said people had been queuing since 9am at the official site. It's a lovely plane but waiting 5 hours to see it??
