Guys, for those of you that know me, youll have no surprise that im always after something a little different. So on to the sound of my GTR.
Collected my new engine today - LS3 Hot cam version.
Now im not particularly bothered about track days yet so keeping her quiet isnt on my build schedule, but i am bothered about a supercar sound track. Any do's and dont's?

I.e. legally / IVA

Also is it the entire exhaust that dictates the tone, or is it a combination of header and mufflers.
Kyle im sure you mentioned a method which would give me the best of both worlds. Really loud (Waking God) and if required sensible noise levels.

Thanks Guys

Track or IVA is about the same. 99dbA for IVA, 98 most tracks.

The whole system contributes to how the exhaust 'sounds'.

single outlet will give 2x the pulses per rpm and make a V8 sound much more racey than twins.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COZYdldOPgs... this is a magnacharged LS2 with stock cast iron manifolds and 2.5" cats 2.5" pipes (no mufflers)

I think Craftys is the best I've heard - is like a modern day Lola T70.

You're not going to get that without extra length in the system.

How about running them forward through the side pods then back down the outside.

My coat? why thank you.

Stuart who came to Le Mans with us this year had the sweetest sounding Ult I've heard. Super Charged 4l RV8. Not too loud but oh so cloud9

Have to say that a good sounding exhaust is sooo important. and it seems that only a few out there in the exhaust building industry either care, or appreciate or know how to 'tune/design' an exhaust system to try to achieve a customers sound desires.

I know it can be done, but who out there in the exhaust fraternity has this type of skill?

Very subtle...like it.

I see you have an Ultima pic on your web site but have you worked on a system for one?

I would be interested in your thoughts re the current system (See various pics on the Ultima web site).
My system has been on for 5 years and was getting loud (117dbA) so I opened the boxes and re-packed them but still only got down to 105 so I'm looking for another answer.

I see no reason to replace the headers and can't justify the cost so a modification that replaced the existing 2 silencers and tail pipes with something else would be the way forwards. Perhaps a single large box with twin tail pipes maybe.
The target would be 95ish dbA.

Chevy SBC, 6.7 litre, currently on carb but going EFI, comp ratio 10:32, 286/286 Cam. AFR Heads 215CFM exhaust flow.

Anyone want info on JP just let me know... They are just up the road from me and ive been to see him recently in my ultima.... The problem he has quietening them down is the short run from engine to the back... and he was looking at building me an exhaust but i have a dry sump engine and i need to move the tank sideways and the gearbox breather off the top....if you want him to build an exhaust and you are too far away i can pop in one saturday for him to take measurements off my car if you want....

Their quality is fantastic and he knows his stuff... He makes headers for formular 5000 cars and they get more horsepower on the carb ones than the later inj ones without his exhausts??
