Just been told my exhaust manifolds need replacing after 9k miles in 18 months! Anyone else heard of this problem & do you know if the replacement is an improved part, don't fancy having to change these regularly outside of warranty :-(

Thanks

It used to be a massive problem on the 355, the manifolds would pretty much melt away to a lump of steel! I might have a solution for you, drop me a PM.

Not sure if it's the same thing but my manifolds were "blowing" so I had them fixed (under warranty) during my last service. Apparantly that is a common ailment on the 430.

Yes, not uncommon. Should be done under warranty as there's a 'campaign' out for them.

Thanks chaps. Having calmed down from the initial call I recall now they did say blowing & didn't mention replacing. It is being done under warranty & I guess if the fix is only to the same standard I have another 2 years warranty cover in which time I presume they would have solved the problem :-)

No problem at all.
It's actually a 'Technical Note' as opposed to a 'Campaign'
Obviously your servicing dealer should pick up manifold's blowing when the car is in for routine servicing.

There are 2 kits listed under the campaign number (kit includes a pair of manifolds & associated gaskets)
1 kit is for cars upto Assembly number >74556 & the other is for cars with Assembly number 74557> onwards.

Tech note number is 1661

Thanks Chris.

So does that mean its covered under goodwill/recall even if car is out of warranty?
