Just searched the '97 parts catalogue and cannot find any reference to anything with that name... What is it?

Wikipedia entry for the description of a Clevis Pin... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clevis_pin

Clevis Joints: http://www.springfix.co.uk/products/clevis-joints....

From the above descriptions I am assuming that it could be the bolt through the bottom, or could be bottom part of the shock?

No 24 is the main rear shock bracket and is essentially a one piece unit with the spring etc.

There is a guy based at Silverstone who may be able to source a new part via Koni and/or rebuild it... (I am assuming that the GenII Shocks were Koni parts as per GenI, although they are very different to the GenI - Baz will be able to confirm this)

Try either of these for Koni Workshops:

Sportsline Suspension, Brackley Northants, Jon Slenzak, 01280-702633

Raceline Suspension, Newbury Berkshire, Paul Drake, 07759-438510

The only other option is new or second hand parts from the States unless you get lucky and find someone over here with a spare I'm afraid.

As a further thought, if you buy a replacement or get yours rebuilt, it would probably be worth getting both sides done at the same time in order to avoid any imbalance between the rear shocks which could cause handling issues if one is stiffer than the other.

I assume the broken bit (no24) would come with a new set of shock absorbers?

Thanks

Nigel

Yes, part 24 on that picture is part of the shock, the shock and spring are essentially a one piece unit, (although the springs can be replaced/changed).

I just spoke to Baz and he has confirmed that the GenII shocks are Koni, so one of the guys noted above may well be able to help in re-building it or know where to get hold of a replacement of that part of the shock in order to rebuild it.

Unfortunately the roads in the UK appear to be the first thing that's been left when the council budgets have been cut, many of them are now nothing more than slalom events. In fairness though coming back from Germany this weekend we came across a road in Belgium that made our roads look like gems!
