Brake pads for track days

Hi, I'm currently using Red Stuff Ceramic on my T350. I do about 4 trackdays a year and recently had brake fade for the first time. Quite scary! On inspection of the pads, they have cracked quite badly. They have had some punishment as i've recently upgraded the tyres to Kumho Ecsta V70a, which are almost too good for the brakes now.
Can anyone recommend a different pad? Has anyone had experience with Yellowstuff?

pagid RS14 for track use, or RS42 for fast road and the occasional track day

RS14 will squeal a lot on the road at cold temps though, and you may not be able to cope with it

carbon lorraine are also very good

tried EBC a few years back, had the same experience as yourself, never bothered since, moved to RS14s, they were a bit too "race" for me and RS42s have been perfect since, had them on 3 cars now ....they last 15 mins of Snetterton without fade on my 1.5 ton Vantage, so should be fine on something lighter like a T350

Had Yellow Stuff on previous Tamora but now got F4 compound on T350 and although primarily for track use have found no downside on the road, good from cold and great when hot.

Mintex F1's will blow them all away, BUT they do have a tendency to squeel abit when cold on a light (road) press.

Ian at TrackVRoad hates them 'cos every time he puts my car in the building he almost goes through the windscreen when he touches the pedal....

Thanks Bogie, Will & Flyboy. I'll have a look into them all assuming i can find RS42's and F4's on the net. Maybe the Mintex F1's will be the easier option. My discs are being skimmed so i'll look for the pads now. Bellyj

How much does brake fluid effect the braking?
I have Dot 4 in and it's new with DS2500 on the fronts with new disks can't say im that impressed.
I know you can get better fluid but is'nt that down to boiling point reasons?
Im going to get a price now on them F4's

youd have to be racing to worry about boiling fluid - just use good quality stuff and change it once a year

Just been speaking to Silverstone Performance and they highly rate Carbone Lorraine Pads. And i mean highly. Think i'll check them out too.

Did you heat-cycle the pads? I run DS2500's and they're good enough to lock up sticky R888 tyres as soon as slightly warm if press hard.

I haven't tried the newer alternatives which may be fine, but personally I wouldn't fancy locking up much easier as you often lose progressive response - like over-servoed normal cars!

I had DS2500s on my T350 and they worked great. Stood up to a long session at a very hot Oulton Park just fine. Mind you, I had put higher temp fluid in which may have helped too.

Targa - good to hear you're likely to get back in a T350 again soon.

Not surprised, nothing much like them. I'll hopefully have a CSL soon which will have to get used to a junior role to the TVR, as the sensible slow road car

I've boiled Dot 4 on trackdays in the past - not nice.

Done about 3K now on them maybe i should be pushing the pedal harder they make me nervous not hit anything yet but lack confidence.
Or maybe travelling too fast

I've boiled Dot 4 on trackdays in the past - not nice.

Same same, SRF or similar is the answer, with F4s..... The T350s and Tams get very little air to the brakes to cool them and its easy to loose them through pad fade or fluid temp.

Im surprised TVR did'nt fit braided hoses to the newer cars.
Doing a search for these parts no dealer seems to sell these only for the chim/griff.
Any ideas why?

Because they do not make that much difference unless you're chasing down Schumacher through the Craner Curves.

If you're worried then replace with new rubber hoses. While you're at it check the flexible fuel hoses.
