Sun visor mounts

Having run out of other things to do (apart from refurbing my split rims, thats another story),I replaced my missing column shroud screw covers on the Griff. Looking up,I then noticed that the visor mounts look like they should have caps in the mounting holes as you can see the tails of the fixing screws and it looks a bit naff and unfinished.

Never noticed this before, but now I have its annoying, anyone have anything fitted in there,or were they all like that?

Still, been through my odds and ends and found some 10mm dia rubber blind grommets that came off something at work,fit perfectly. Much better!

Mine look like the tails of pop rivets fixing the mounts to the window suround?

I only noticed this when i went to remove/tighten the drivers side one as the visor keeps self lowering on the bumps which is b@@dy annoying and found that i couldn't. Don't surpose anyone has come up with a fix this TADTS ?

You are right Bluebottle, looking again they are not screw tails, but look like a form of blind rivetted threaded insert in the visor mount block. I have countersunk slotted screw heads visible under the seal in the header rail into them, have never tried to undo them in case the whole lot turned though.

In the past I have succesfully tightened droopy visors by a bit of tape around the pivot rod, they normally just slide out the visor, if you can get them off in the first place that is!

One or two people have recently posted of sun visor problems.

If the original fittings are wearing out and are hard to repair/replace, perhaps the option of a complete replacement milled from high quality alloy would sell?

Just take them off !

You don't need them, and think of that extra sunshine and sky you'd get to enjoy
