squeak noise in the rear right hand brake?
Discussion
Hi
Two weeks ago, while I was driving back home from a 6k service, I noticed a squeak noise when the care was hot. Thought it was nothing. I left the car for 2 weeks at home. This morning I drive it again for the first time and the squeak noise is still there and a bit loud now. It definitely does not come from the rubber seals. I think it comes from somewhere in the rear right hand brake because:
1. the faster I drive, the more often the noise is heard. Example: at 20mph --> 2 gratings per seconds, at 40mph: 4 gratings per seconds, etc...
2. When I brake, the squeak noise stops instantly, and resume instantly after I stop pressing the brake pedal.
3. from what I hear, the noise comes from the back end of the car, on the driver side (hard to tell though, that is my feeling).
Do you know what this could be?
The service shop had to change the rear braking pads (not the front): could this be linked?
thank you
Benjamin
(I also contacted the service shop, waiting for their advice)

if you mount new pads you allways have to round the edges before putting them in and grease them with copperfat (english ??)
if it's only that it's an easy fix
there's allways a possibility that you didn't drive the pads in properly
NO HARD BRAKING THE FIRST 250 MILES
if you did there's allways the possibility the pads came loose from the plate
i would have it checked directly.
a scattered disc is going to cost more (and you'll need 2)

I called Dom at TVR Power and he thinks this might be a small stone wedged in my rear brake pad. Apparently this often happen. He advised me to try to drive and pull the hand brake a couple of times to try and remove it. I totally trust the guy on that, I ll try. Do you have any other ideas to remove such small stone? cheers

Benjamin jack up the car put on axle stands & turn each wheel by hand if it is a stone you should be able to hear it if not the wheel sould turn freely make sure it does not bind at certain points. If it binds the pads may not be seated squarely when the pads are changed there is always plenty of crud needs clearing to allow the pad to move & a small ammount of copperslip on the back of the pad as Rens says
