I would imagine that the body cavity would absorb most of the blast so to have any effect beyond making a nasty mess it would have to be removed from the body to have much effect.
Don't see how it managed to stay in place for the reported 30 hours though.

Do a google for acetone peroxide. That's what they don't want people making on flights.

Hydrogen Peroxide is quite difficult to get hold of in sufficient concentrations though.

The properties of guncotton are probably better suited to getting around airport security.

There was a very good website dedicated to sort of chemistry that you shouldn't know about, but it got pulled off the interweb and the owner slung in prison.

hmmm I cant help thinking Churchill would have dealt with this rather differently. Our gutless tts of course just come up with drivel and innefective ways to prevent terrorist acts. We interned all aliens whether enemy or otherwise during ww2. We had a plan to kill the lot too.

The current approach is knee jerk box ticking, just in a more critical context. The effect is the same, nothing changes outside the box except hassle where it shouldn't be. The authorities say carry on don't let terrorists dictate your lifestyle, but fail to follow their own advice. There are far more selective methods of detecting what needs to be detected but if you need so much tax to bribe voters to stay in power then it won't get spent where it's needed and airport fiascos are one result.

I'm sure if people really want to build or know anything about that sort of thing, they just need to get the appropriate book from amazon. I'm sure the old interweb crawler at GCHQ has it's eye focussed on more people than you think. We had several full bore muslims on my chem degree. They can have the knowledge too!!! Perhaps we should have religious checks on people attending various courses, ahhhhgggghhh BOOKS!!!! We'll have to have checks for those!!!! Interweb NOOOOOOOO!!!! At least our filter can stop terrorists.

I think that airport detection methods are inadequate for certain types of compound. Unless they fly people's clothes and luggage via a drone, it will always be a risk.

You can get worked up over things that are a lot more likely to happen and it's largely the hype/grandstand type of events that make terrorism so effective in it's cause.

provide a false sense of security for the masses rather than manage the core issue. Much easier I'm sure.

Given the limited quantities you could 'stuff' up there, this sounds more like a solution to our terrorist problem than a new threat. If all they can achieve is blowing their own arse off, I think they should be positively encouraged. Maybe we could give all passengers a little shake at security...
