Hmmm, I can't seem to spell garage, nor edit the post title!

As part of my ongoing research into buying a cerb i had a quick measure of the garage, and a cerb won't fit in. Not a show stopper as the existing agrage isn't in great condition, just means i will postpone the purchase of a car.

So, i`ve ordered a new shed to put all the existing garage rubbish in and i have a contractor coming round next week for a quote on a widened slab. A 6x3m garage should be suitable to work around a cerbera?

Hopefully i`ll have a new garage in a few weeks, i can get the power supply, insulation, waterproofing and tools organised over the winter.

I`m sick of reading about cerbs, I wish i had one on the drive- on that matter anyone got any dimensions for clearance of the front nose? i`m now concerned i might scrape the nose getting up the drive.

(New drive? - LOL)

Where abouts are you?

I'm sure someone on here will pop round to give it a go.

Its not even close, both in lterms ength and width in between the doors. Its ok, it gives me a good excuse to build a decent sized garage in the rear garden.

think he was meaning the nose to clear your drive

Its not the clearance so much as the angle of the drive and height befor the front wheels start up I think if you look at the ramps suggested for a car like that any more than 12 degrees it will hit the nose befor the wheels get on the incline. The flat level with the wheels and towards the nose is only 4.5" on mine so does not like a steep drive unless u can get an angle approach and anyway new gargage new drive new Cerb its all good!!! Hope it all goes well and dont forget to buy the wife something as she wont be seeing you for a while???

I was facing a similar dillema; no garage at the house, therefore build a Cerbera sized garage extension, and while we're at it why not make it two storeys so we can get a kitchen extension over the top as well..... (live on a hill, garage at cellar level, kitchen above). Plan was to do this BEFORE buying the Cerb, but got a bit carried away and bought the Cerb anyway as just couldn't wait any longer biggrin .

So, do what I did, rent a garage somewhere in the meantime, that way you get your new toy, sorry sensible family car, and it doesn't matter when you get the inevitable building delays smile

I'd be interested in the various angles that the Cerb can clear, as the drive will slope down from the road to the garage, so need to know what angle of "ramp" it will take prior to construction....

It'll fit comfortably and give you free space for a workbench or storage at one end, but that's really not enough width to work on the car comfortably.

I have a VERY steep drive that winds down from the road into my garage but have perfected a way to get the Cerb in/out now.
I have to reverse the car down the drive which just about allows me to negotiate the lip of the hill (trying to drive in forward just grounds the car on its belly)

The car then grounded again on the exhausts at the bottom of the drive as it flattens out into the garage.
To get round this I had to buys some thick rubber mats to even the incline out in order for me to be able to successfully get into the garage.

It was a bit of a chore and there are only millimetres of clearance, but its great to know the old girl is safely tucked in off the road and out of the elements.

what do you mean sometimes laugh

just replacing carpets in mine due to previous owner not having replaced door seals, but with plenty of silicone in the right places and good door seals it is now water tight, hopefully!!!
