When's the best time to buy a TVR

...I'm sure this isn't the first time that's been asked, but I was doing a bit of Friday afternoon window shopping in the classifieds and noticed every single model area has been added to in the last day or so. There seem to be a lot on the market; is it because summer's over and everyone's selling up? If not, when is good?

Well if you are watching the classifieds... never actually.

There is supposed to be seasonal shift with lower prices coming in around autumn to winter but I don't think that is reflected in asking prices, but for what the cars actually sell for thats anyones guess.

There did seem to be abit of a price crash at the beginning of the summer but it seems like the asking prices are back to normal now.

I think people just make a small change to their ad and it puts it back up at the top - as if it's a new ad.

There is a great condition 450 SEAC (Wedge) just come on to the market..

Winter is probably a slightly better time to buy, but then its also a slightly crapper time to sell so there will be less around. If it was me and I was in the market and ready to buy, I'm not sure I would want to hang on to save a few hundred quid really. It's not going to be more than that.

Won mine on eBay on Boxing day last year.

Before you get married & have kids. It's damn difficult to persuade the Mrs that you need a TVR rather than a downpayment on a house/new kitchen/super-baby-buggy/private education fund/university fund/pay-for-daughter's-wedding-fund...

My car is up for sale at the moment and i've only had a couple of emails which is slightly disappointing. I don't think I have a silly price on it, seems to be about market average for year/mileage. Maybe people just aren't buying at the moment.

Don't know if people are hanging off or are paying for holidays or anything really but I think it may be a buyers market. In saying that, I am only one of 3 private sellers on Autotrader just now.

There is less on the market because sellers are refusing to take a hit on the price and simply not selling.

The economy is still depressed and some sellers do not have the luxury of being able to avoid selling.

So I would say now is good time to buy, this will only improve in the winter months

Possible that less on the market because folk are keeping hold of cars they would normally have swapped for new - due just to lack of new cars!
