I burst out laughing when I saw this in Tesco and had to take a picture.

Yes it's low carbon low emission charcoal. It only cost 4 times as much as normal charcoal as well.

What kind of pea-brained eco numpty would buy this rubbish?

I bought two bags, as it was all there was and it was reduced to £2 per bag. I got home, set light to the bag, and stood back. The bag burned, the charcoal didn't even start to catch. Waste of time. I stuck it in a carrier and took it back to Tesco this morning, complained and got back the full retail price for the two bags.

I hate Tesco.

The rest might be true, but the 'No dirty hands' bit has to be absolute BS. I've never used these bags with out having to wash my hands afterwards.

What an utter load of tosh. Given that proper charcoal is wood which has been burned in an oxygen deprived environment, and briquettes are similar, just shreds of wood held together by binders... What the hell is this? What are you burning? Blocks of chemical? I bet that does a great job on your prime ribeye...

I will say that all the normal charcoal had sold out and there were shelves full of this rubbish. Maybe Tesco customers aren't as thick as people make out?

It's Sapporo, so our inscrutable cousins in Japan. Isn't "Diet" their House of Commons? They've a soft drink called Sweat, too, IIRC.

Consider the plight of the local authority, who now have targets to meet for carbon reduction and and in many cases, a dedicated carbon officer.

Im showing them a product that is a retrofit that cheaply reduces carbon by lets say 5 parts but requires very little replacement of existing parts.

One of them said he would rather use solution "X" because it cuts carbon emissions by (hypothetically) 8 parts, despite having to replace 3 times as many (perfectly good) components.

I pointed out that he can only use that by throwing away much of his perfectly good equipment to replace it with lots more equipment that will need manufacturing, so not cutting carbon at all.

He said he didnt care, as long as it ticked the box for carbon useage once it was in place. Besides, the more carbon it cuts, the easier it is to get the stuff paid for by the carbon trust. Meaning he gets a load of new stock for very little cost to his own budget, no matter the extra carbon produced to create the new stuff.

The closer you get to the way your taxes are spent, the further you despair.

* See back panel for details.

What they explain there is that they are really only joking, and using it as a gimmick to draw in the treehuggers and lentil weaving cockt@rds who beleive every piece of 'environmental' drivel the mass media pumps out to sell more newspapers.
