Monschau in the black forest area is worth a stop off, its not far way, lovely place. Plenty of other nice bits in the eifel area too.

I think the black forest has some of the best driving roads in Germany. Especially when the bikers don't come out to play!

Take a look at www.nurburgring.org

There's a section on there that lists the various ways to get to the ring.

Not to mention lunatics in BMWs who still think they're on the Ring as we encountered when taking this route. Sideways 1 series coupe anyone? smile

The Black Forest has some good roads though and as said above there are plenty of nice places for a stop en-route.

Can we just clarify where you are starting from and where you wish end up?

West Yorkshire to Adenau via Santander???? That’s like going from Paris to Warsaw via Rome….

I do the run without going on any motorways.

The country roads are normally less traffic and better views.
