Is there any advantage, over the LS6 intake manifold, of fitting the later LS7 intake to an LS1 with ported LS6 heads?

Sorry it wont fit. Completetly different ports.

If you have ported LS6 heads just get an LS6 intake to suit. Don't be tempted with an LS2 either.
better stil, if your budget will go to it have a look at the FAST 90. You can port it easily to the heads. Out of the three cathedral port intakes the LS6 is reputed to be the best one.

Are they genuine LS6 heads with LS6 valves? In which case you have a superb set of heads with lightweight valves which make for a very revvy motor?

LS6 heads and LS2 heads use the same 243 head casting.
All LS1 Monaro's have LS6 intakes.

They won't have the sodium filled exhaust valves and hollow inlets though iirc. Also what rocker arms do they get, 1.7 or 1.8?

Again, from the book of silly questions: I was under the impressions that all post 2001 LS1s' were fitted with the LS6 intake... is that right?

Probably, look for a flat floor on the intake instead of a curve. They did discontinue the early intake around about that time.

Yeah hence why I didnt comment on that smile Im pretty sure rockers were std.

I dont think Gen4 Camaro's and C5's faired as well as Holdens on the intake side, I thought most still had the LS1 intake.

They got the ls6 intake. I remember importing used engines back then with flat floor intakes and thinking wow, it's an ls6 but it wasn't! Rockers would have been 1.7's and valves would have been ls1 type. Penny pinching again.
