We had a problem with making funny noises and soon after it went ballistic (not you BB) and we couldn't switch the thing off - made even worse as we were in Edinburgh and the car was in Birmingham. As yours is still working I imagine that it is OK.
It was water getting in to the connection about 4 inches from the siren and hidden just in the inner wing. As water drips off the bonnet it runs down the inner wing and over the conection sending the siren loopy. Try disconnecting the wires (make sure you don't lose the end in the inner wing as I would imagine its a bitch to get back through the grommet)putting a piece of length of bicycle inner tube over it (around 5 inches long), reconnecting the cable (vaseline may also help here - for the cable only and nothing else)and tape the ends up over the connection with electrical tape. Also put a bag over the siren and an elastic band to hold it in place. No more trouble with ours in 3 months and no garage so its been out in some rain.
If you do need to replace the siren give Meta Systems a call in Droitwich on 01905 791700. They will give you a local supplier.

Mine went loopy at 6.30 monday morning much to the amusement of my neighbours 
the AA came out and put it out of its misery (45 mins later -- well, it's monday, gotta get up for work sometime, eh?), and a call to Peninsula at 8am
got things moving. aparently "they can do that", and so they're fitting a new one (siren unit only I *think*). Hopefully its covered by the warranty, especially as I've only had the car for around 3 weeks!

After a new siren was installed on my Chim by Carl Baker in June it picked worst day ever IMO to fail and constantly sound. Hungover, panicing and surrounded by neighbours I had no option but to rip the damn thing out and submerse in a bucket of water (again!). I had a new unit arrive today, waterproofing this one!

IIRC Carl Baker, the Meta TVR guru chap that's refered to on most of these types of posts, mentioned that the average expectancy of a Meta siren ON A CHIM was 6 months. I believe on a Griff they're mounted in the engine bay? On a Chim they're just behind the front number plate. Great!

The bag is only a freezer type which is very thin. The objective is to stop water getting into the siren and the bag does this but still allows air to circulate through the bottom of the bag (end nearest the floor). I assume it does not make any difference to the volume as it hasn't gone off again - anyway 1 or 2 decibels is unlikely to make any significant difference judging by the last outburst. It's still fecking loud.

I managed to set my alarm off last night while installing my new radio. Damn me it's loud! (the alarm, not the radio) I couldn't turn the damn thing off because of what I later found out is some kind of a bad connection behind the dash.
In the end I had to rather un-ceremoniously 'disconnect' the siren under the gaze of many a disgruntled neighbour and with the aid of a big pair of scissors. Then I realised that the whole immobiliser/central locking was no longer working (which in turn led me to discover the aforementioned duff connection)
After a bit of blind rumaging around behind the glovebox/dashboard I have managed to get the system working again ( and the radio
) and the little red led is merrily flashing, but I have no real idea on how I managed it. So to get to the point, can anyone shed any light on which wires behind the dash belong to the alarm system, and whether I will be able to discover them by touch, or will need to remove the whole dash
