Has anyone any experience of using a Palm handheld computer with Macintosh computer as a SatNav system coupled with a "points of Interest" database listing speed camera sites etc?

Nope, but I use my iPAQ with TomTom Navigator and a speedcam database.

same as Alex but on a PC, is it a MAC issue your having a problem with? otherwise i would think it's the same as the PC.
