Hi, yesterday in pooring rain in the Netherlands (yes we have that too) the wipers started moving slower almost directly after turning them on and then cam to a complete stop (surprisingly almost at the position they should be) also the indicators left and right stopped working. The alarmlights (indicators left and right at the same time work perfectly.

I tried changing fuse number 16, didn't help. Any clues here???

Check the big fuse. Is the rev counter erratic/jumping as well?

Arthur, check all the ribbon cables under the dash and also the connection to the wiper motor under the bonnet, i remember this happening to me and all i did was unplugged/replugged all the connections and it was fine, although by the time i fixed it the bloody rain had stopped! Might pay you to spray with some contact cleaner or similar too before you reconnect them.

Hope your getting plenty of driving in.

My motor failed (they corrode inside) and stalled. This caused a short circuit and damaged the steerwheel control box (near driver's knees) which I had to replace.

Hey Arthur,

You are having one of the typical Cerbera problems. Your wipermotor is corroded. I had the same on mine. Expensive motor, so be prepared for a 200 pund bill! They can only be reconditioned. It's looks like a mini wipermotor, but it isn't. There are no new ones anymore when I'am correct.

Hi there, just to add to the above - I had a similar thing on my Cerb, though it was only the indicators that died, despite them working when the alarm was turned on/off etc.....maybe I was lucky but I chose to try the simplest possible solution first and sprayed a load of WD40 / Contact cleaner into the indicator stalk / electrical connection area - moved the stalk up and down several times and hey presto, suddenly everything came back to life - might be worth a try, and if it works, you've saved a chunk of money smile

Maybe a worst case scenario but iirc the wiper motor can be used off a Mini but you have to swap the gearbox over due to the different sweep of the wipers, maybe somebody could clarify my cloudy memory, its not something i have done. Certainly be cheaper than reconditioning the Cerb item if thats the case and not much more difficult as the unit would need to be removed to change anyway.

If the wipers have siezed Arthur just try operating them off the steering wheel button and forcing the wipers gently with your hand to get them to move, this may free them up for a while and prove a point also.

Solved! It appeared to be the fuses after all. The problem was that the scheme in the owners manual did not match the setup in the car. I used the scheme from the workshop manual and now it works again!

Luckily for me a simple repair!

TVR- Expect The Unexpected

You have owned it long enough now to know that the manual will probably be a little inaccurate!
