Battlefield 2 - v1.5 patch released

Anyone still playing BF2?

Patch 1.5 was released this week, 2GB, no DVD needed once installed, map packs for free, enhancements etc...

Would be good to get on and have a few games at some point, it's years since I've had a machine capable of playing it but my current laptop just scrapes in on low settings so I'm going to reinstall. Might inspire me to fix or replace my gaming PC if I get hooked again.

Most of the UK servers are maxed out, suspect the US ones will be soon, Australian servers seem to be OK at the moment but obviously this will vary depending on who is awake at the time you try

Funnily enough I reinstalled this about a month ago, and had a spell of playing it every day. Its still a great game, though the graphics are a little dated. Will the patch affect that?

I've installed it, not played online though but the main benefits are the extra maps (Operation Smoke Screen, Taraba Quarry, Great Wall, Operation Harvest, Midnight Sun & Operation Road Rage), the game using more than 2GB of RAM so it does speed things up and no longer needing a DVD in the drive.

I still play it but a lot people seem to have moved on since then and you've got the online console market now as well.

Still one of my favourites though!

You say that but I still can't figure out why anyone is playing older stuff like BF1942 and Diablo 2. D2 is a strange one, really... you can still get full games and people rushing/wanting to be rushed. It's a 10 year old game (nearly) with dated graphics yet if I needed help killing Mephisto, it wouldn't be long before I had helpers.

BF1942 is a great game though... there are still people playing quake online I'm sure...(quake DM was and still is the best!)

BF1942 is a great game i still play quite a bit, not as much as i did about 5 years ago though.
I used to play a lot of BF2 as well and really need to re-buy it as its a great game and knocks most modern online FPS games out of the water.

Yes, it is. I sometimes play BF1942 when I can't get on my favourite BF2 servers.

I've still got BF1942 installed because it has the 1918 WWI mod on it which hasn't been finished (or has it?) for BF2.

I sometimes play quakelive, which is basically Quake 3 in a web browser. It's great!

I saw the BF2 Combo pack (BF2, Special Forces, Amoured Fury, Euro Force) for £15 quid the other day.

Well the F35 can now hold it's own against a J10 for one, which is great!

All things I have never encountered so for me apart from the above I see no difference. There's still the bug that if you click the tab to change from US to MEC to check the weapons you can't change back to US (or whatever forces are being used).

Is that a bug or just to stop people seeing where the enemy are?

You mean like the guy with the machine gun who was picking people off with head shots even thought there were several buildings between them and quickly had in excess of triple the points of known excellent players?
