I'm after a second set of alloys for the M3 that I can use on trackdays with slicks on.

Don't care about cosmetic condition, but straight, unbuckled and crack free would be good! Also with a set of half decent rubber that'll last a trackday or two would be even better.

Had a look through the classified and there are plenty of later E46 M3 18" alloys, and plenty of standard E36 15" but not many E36 M3 Evo alloys around?

I've noticed some 17" alloys for other BMW models, I'm guessing I need to check the offsets and widths? (which can be an impossible job with some people smile

Anyone know where I can get a set cheap? Or anyone have a set lying around gathering dust that they no longer need?

Also looking for a Z3 M steering rack to fit to improve the steering speed, spotted one on EBay but they're after £200 for it, used, from a scrapped car with no guarantee? Avoid or about the right price?

That's the cheap end of the scale for the Z3 rack. I got mine through Partsgateway.co.uk and it was just over £200.

As for wheels, Ebay usually turns some up.

Cheers Dan,

About the rack, does it have to be from a particular Z4 model / engine size / age?

Yes, it HAS to be from a 4-cyl Z3 (1.8 or 1.9). Nothing else is an upgrade.

could try www.fabdirect.com not always the cheapest but do provide a good service, I bought an M3 front bumper off of them and it arrived quickly and as they had described

Thanks Paoloh.

I've found a set of 18" E46 M3 wheels so I'll use those as everyday wheels and use my current M3 Evo 17"s for trackdays.

Do E46 M3 alloys fit an E36?

Quite sure E46 M3 wheels to fit an E36 seen it done a few times,

although IMHO don't suit the car at all.

Heh, good job we're not all the same :-)

I like them a lot more than the E36 wheels.

Still can't find a Z3 1.8/1.9 rack, asked a few breakers and the place suggested above.

Also emailed some place that provides reconditioned ones but had no answer yet. You'd think some people don't want to make money!

I would have thought E46 M3 offsets would be different.... Oh well, you live and learn.

They are different, from what I've read depending on the tyres fitted I might have to roll the arches to stop any rubbing which isn't a problem.
