Brake warning light on A3

Hi folks. The mrs bought an A3 on Monday, a 52 plate 1.9 TDi. We're just getting used to it with the odd quirk here and there. Except tonight when we were drivign home, a loud beep from the dash and the brake warning light (not the one indicating worn pads, but the one that is the same as the hand brake engaged light) flashes up 2 or 3 times, then dissappears... weird. Anyone seen thsi before?
